431art, "Five Elements" (2001) and Kinga Kiełczyńska and Melanie Bonajo, "Modern Life of the Soul" (2007)
Originally a live performance, "Five Elements" sensorially translates the five stages of transcendence, moving from "purely corporeal basic needs (earth) to the ability to communicate (air) to existence as a spirtual being (ether)." Soundscapes consisting of natural sounds and digitally-synthesized sounds are interspersed with whispered texts by Apuleius, Parmenides of Elea, Frater Albertus, and Gautauma Buddha among others.
To make the video "Modern Life of the Soul," Kinga Kiełczyńska and Melanie Bonajo lived in Puszcza Białowiesja (PL), moving each day from forest home to forest home, dressed like forest nymphs, attempting to become one with the forest.
