Impressed by Milanese gardeners whose individualized plots defied urban planners' control, Ugo La Pietra filmed "La riappropriazone della città" (The Reappropriation of the City) to document what no doubt must have seemed like Italian society's last vestiges of freedom and creativity during the "Anni di piombo" (years of lead). Most of that era's radicals could only either dream of or theorize the autonomous living experiences that La Pietra's art cherished and immortalized.
